Abstract
The investigation was developed during the period of November from 2017 to August of 2018 in the Cooperative of Agricultural Production Otto Parellada, located in the Tercer Frente municipality, Santiago de Cuba province; with the objective of determining the percentage of survival of buds of four varieties of Coffea arabica L. An experimental parcel composed by four structured blocks each one for 30 plants from Coffea canephora subjected to the pruning of low rehabilitation pruning down (back cutting). It was evaluated in 20 plants by variety the survival of the buds grafting on the offshoot. The percentage of survival average for the four evaluated varieties was of 83 % and it showed the best behavior the variety Isla 6-14 with 95 % achievement, followed by the varieties Bourbon with 86 % and Lafernó with 80 %, respectively, in a general way the values of survival during the first grafting phase were satisfactory what omens the presence of a sustainable technology.
