Effect applying Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. To soil and foliage to control coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei Ferrari) on harvesting phase
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research was carried out during november the year 2008, in the areas of Jibacoa Agro-Forestal Experimental Station. It is located at 340 meter above sea level, near Manicaragua Villa Clara. The objective was measure application of Beauveria Bassiana fungus to the soil and leaves on Coffea arabica L., in the control of Hypothenemus hampei Ferrari, under Jibacoa agro-ecological conditions. (Mainly on the harvest period). A system of block design was used at random, integrated by four treatments with two copies each. At the convenient time, the applications influences were evaluated, by means of infection treatment indexes and the different evaluation periods. All data was analyzed by means of a double variant classification analysis. The main result obtained was that during the harvest period, the lower infection index was obtained when B bassiana was given to the soil and the foliage. The second result was that, as time passes; the effectiveness of applications diminishes, increasing progressively the infection indexes.
