Productive results Theobroma cacao L. In the area of Jibacoa

Abstract
It offers the results of the evaluations at a hybrid population of Theobroma cocoa L. developed at the Agroforestal Experimental Station located at Jibacoa in the Villa Clara´s Mountains (Escambray), from September 2010 to August 2012. The research was carried out with the objective of evaluating the productive results of the cocoa, under the conditions of Jibacoa´s weather and soil, in the central region of Cuba. In the study the productivity of cocoa was counted, the index of cob to obtain a kilogram of dry cocoa was measured as well as the temperatures and rain rates. The production of the plantation was of 6822 cobs, and after dried, 222.71 kg were obtained. The biggest cob harvest was gathered in spring (February to August) with 56.4 % of the total harvest. However the biggest production of dry cocoa registered during the winter harvest (September to February) with 59.3 %. The decisive factors in the results were rain and temperature. The climatic conditions in Jibacoa favored the emission of fruits of Theobroma cocoa L. and the production of dry cocoa was affected during the spring harvest by the drought and the low temperatures. As a result, a larger number of cobs were needed to obtain 1 kg of dry bean, being low the productivity.
