Comportamiento del cultivo del cacao en una plantación de Baracoa tras el paso del huracán Matthew
Main Article Content
Abstract
The work was developed in a cocoa plantation (Theobroma cocoa Lin.), with an extension of 3.0 ha, located in areas of the Estación Experimental Agro-Forestal of Baracoa, Guantánamo province, belonging to the Institute of AgroForest Investigations, during the period of October of 2016 to January of 2017, with the objective of evaluating the behavior phenologic of the cultivation after the affectations caused by the step of the hurricane Matthew for the territory of Baracoa. Phenological observations of the budding foliar and floral, the appearance of fruits were carried out and the rhythm of growth was determined to foliate in the clones UF-650, UF-677 and UF-613 through mensurations of the longitude of the limbo, according to methodology proposed in the Graphic Manual of Varietal Descriptors of Cocoa actual, one also kept in mind the registration of the precipitations during the period. As a result of the observations, to the 5 later days foliar small buds was appreciated, floral and offsprings basal head in the plants, budding that were more intense to the 12 days. During the period of formation and development of the system to foliate the flowering were scarce and fruits didn’t take place until the 75 days. Starting from the 22 days it diminished the rhythm of growth of the leaves until stopping to the 31 days; the maximum values were in the range of 22.6 cm and 28.0 cm, inferior to those considered as normal for this species.
