Efectiveness of three plant species that preserving of the soil in cacao tree plantations of Baracoa

Abstract
The experiment was executed in a property of the Estación Experimental Agroforestal Baracoa, Guantánamo province, Cuba, with the objective of determining the index of soil contention by means of the employment of three species of conservatives plants as alive barriers: Language of Cow (Sansevieria guineensi Jacq.), magnolia (Dracaena fragens Ker-Gal) and aralias (Aralia spp.). The cocoa plantation was composed by a mixture clonal (UF) spread by graft, established at 3 m x 3 m of distance, planted on a Fluvisol soil, with half slope of 42 %, located in the North Slope. The results showed the superiority of the Language of Cow (T3) like conservative plant of the soil since retained bigger quantity of this, with a value of 1662 mm, while in the witness (T4), where the barrier, the retention result was not used it was negative –427,5 mm– what represents a loss for the water erosion. Although the cow language is shown like a species invasora, requires of a systematic management on the part of the producers and it is recommended that in dependence of the quantity of barriers alive employees in a certain area should be used in descending order the combination of the following species: magnolias, aralias and cow language.
