Abstract

To evaluate the agronomic effectiveness of the watering for wick as new technique in the propagation of the cocoa, it has been the objective of the present work developed by the Estación Experimental Agroforestal Baracoa. Under an experimental design in Blocks the experiment was developed at random, in two propagation methods: for seeds and micro grafting, composed by 4 treatments with 3 replicas and 5 repetitions. The treatments T1, T2 and T3 respond to the watering for wick; while the T4 to the witness, through the application of the air micro sprinkling. The evaluated agronomic variables were: diameter of the shaft, height of the plant, number and longitude of the leaves, percentage of dry mass, develop of the root system and area to foliate. The results, processed by means of simple ANOVA through the statistical package Statgraphics Plus v. 5.1, they show significant statistical differences among treatments, manifested in more measure in the subjected postures to the watering for wick. From the hydraulic point of view it is appreciated saving of 96 % of the water, application efficiency and near coefficient of uniformity to 100 %, besides achieving full field capacity in the substratum.
