Study of the controlled manual pollination effectiveness in the crossing Uf-650 x Pound-12, of the Theobroma cacao Lin. species in different hours of the day in Baracoa, Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
With the objective of evaluating the possibility to carry out effective pollinations in different hours of the day that contributes to elevate the personnel’s productivity linked to the Program of Production of Hybrid Seeds of Cocoa, out the present work was carried in a plantation of cocoa of the species Theobroma cacao Lin. with 12 years of age, belonging to the Estación Experimental Agroforestal de of Baracoa, planted to a height of 28 msnm on a Fluvisol soil and protected with shade of Leucaena leucocephala (Lam) of Witt. 7 treatments were evaluated, consistent in different hours of execution of the pollinations. For the study crosses were carried out of the clone UF-650 x Pound-12, being made 20 manual pollinations. A completely randomized design was used, in which each treatment was represented by 4 plants. The evaluations of the active flowers were carried out to the 15 later days to the pollinations, and the data were processed through the Chi-Squarer Distributions (X2). The behavior of the climatic elements was evaluated: maximum, minimum temperatures, mediates, precipitations and relative humidity that influenced in the experiment. As a result it was demonstrated that being carried out pollinations in hours superiors to the 9.00 am you can achieve effectiveness in the adhesion of the flowers when it carried out the crossing of the clone UF-650 with the masculine progenitor Pound-12.
