Establishment and exploitation of a Bank of Hybrid seeds of cocoa in the solid mountainous Sierra Maestra

Abstract
The province Santiago de Cuba is second producer of cocoa in Cuba, every year for his plan of planting the fact that only they produced themselves at Baracoa’s Experiment Station demands of hybrid crook’s seeds of cocoa, for that in the decade of 1990 in front of the threats of the especial period was precise to establish an area that there is guarantee in bulk and quality requisite seeds. In addition to crooks obtaining of seeds he gets ready of 23 clones that are used as like bench germplasm that they can be utilized in case of any contingency. The cocoa bank of hybrid seeds of the Santiago de Cuba province became established in Neguí Tercer Frente in the decade of 1990 and in addition to guarantee very year the cocoa beans of the territory it has been used as study for students of half level and director like material base. The 20 years in exploitation of Bank of hybrid seeds of cocoa of the Third Front demonstrate the feasibility of creation of the same.
