Resistencia a Phytophthora palmivora de 48 accesiones de cacao del Banco de Germoplasma de la Estación Experimental AgroForestal Baracoa, Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
The following work consisted in accomplishing a test of resistance to Phytophthora palmivora to 48 accessions of cocoa of germplasm’s bench of Baracoa’s Estación Experimental Agro-Forestal, on a completely design randomized with 10 repetitions. By this it was prepared an inoculum with the pathogen, isolated starting from sick fruits coming from the bench study object and 10 healthy fruits of each agreement were placed inside a bag of nylon semi transparent with a cotton humidified in 50 ml of distilled water, where 2 disks of filter paper were located submerged in the previously upset suspension of spores, in opposed sides to the equator of the fruit (up and under the center of the fruit), for a period of 10 days, under field conditions, with the objective of determining the resistance degree in front of this disease. The qualitative results showed that 50% of the cultivars were resistant, 28% moderately resistant and 22 % remaining behaved susceptible, to Phytophthora palmivora (Butl.) Butl. The severity of the disease was very high, reaching degrees of destruction of 90 % in the susceptible fruits.
