Producción in vivo de nemátodos entomopatógenos para el control de la broca del café a partir de la larva del insecto Galleria mellonella L., 1758 (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The work was developed in the laboratory of production of biological means of the Estación Experimental Agro-Forestal of Tercer frente, during 2011 at 2016 period; which had as objective to achieve the in vivo production of the entomopathogen nematode (Heterorhabditis sp.) and their introduction in the productive base. For the obtaining of the entomopathogen nematodes (NEP) it was used as susceptible organism the larva of the Galleria mellonella insect, since it is one of the most appropriate for their development. The raising of G. mellonella began with an inoculums constituted by larvae, obtained of beehives in the apiary, the same ones were taken to the laboratory to begin the productive cycle, using an elaborated diet with the help of wheat bran, soybean, corn and bee honey; being conserved to a temperature among 25 oC-30 oC. With the technology and the used handling was achieved the productive stability of the two organisms, obtaining among 1250 to 1300 larvae of G. mellonella/Kg of diet, with alone a 3 % of mortality. Starting from the achieved larvae 50 000 millions of NEP took places that were applied in areas of 15 entities of the productive base. The high levels of production of G. mellonella reached allowed generating revenues among 10.540,00 to 78.633,00 CUP during the evaluated period, what guaranteed the economic sustainability of the productive process.
