Comportamiento de dos enfermedades que afectan al cultivo del cacao (Theobroma cacao Lin.) en Baracoa, Guantánamo
Main Article Content
Abstract
With the objective of evaluating the provoked affectations, by two of the main diseases that affect the cocoa cultivation in Baracoa, the following work was carried out in the Estación Experimental Agro-Forestal Baracoa, Guantánamo province during the period understood from January of 2015 to September of 2016. Four experimental places of 0.5 ha were selected each one, distributed in 4 fundamental productive poles of the territory (San Luis; La Cidra; Santa Rosa and Saibá). For it was used it the technique of aleatory simple sampling with a monthly frequency, to calculate the affectations, in 20 plants at random. In each plant the quantity of fruits was evaluated infested by Phytophthora palmivora (Butl) Butl and for Diplodia (Diplodia theobromae Nowel). For the study one kept in mind the behavior of the main meteorological variables. The data were processed using the statistical package InfoStat. The results showed that Phytophthtora palmivora infested the cultivation in all the evaluated places, being observed the biggest index of affectations in La Cidra with 18 %. Diplodia theobromae manifested a less aggressive behavior (4 %), although it is also in all the evaluated parcels. The month of more infection for P. palmivora was February, while D. theobromae caused bigger damages to the cocoa in February and May.
