Test of resistance to Phytophthora palmirova (Bult.) Bult. in 22 hybrid of Theobroma cacao Lin.
Main Article Content
Abstract
This work was carried out by the Estación de investigaciones de Cacao Baracoa, Guantánamo province, during October 2009 to December 2010 period with the objective of evaluating the resistance to 22 cultivars in collection. The same one was carried out in the experimental parcels; for the development of this work, the local stump of Phytophthora palmivora (Butl) Butl (GE-1) was used, seasonal and proven as aggressive. For the preparation of the suspensions the methodology of Lawrence (1978b) modified was used, that consists in adding to each tube of rehearsal 10 mL of sterile water to 10 ºC and placed 30 minutes in a dark camera to 5 ºC and then to 25 ºC equally period. A concentration of 2 x 105 esporas/mL was used. To evaluate and to classify the resistance it was used the method of Philips and Galindo (1996). The results show that of the 22 hybrid evaluated, 6 were resistant to Phytophthora palmivora (Butl.) Butl. (UF-667 x UF-29, UF-613 x EICB-116, UF-613 x SCA-12, UF-650 x Pound-7, UF-654 x Pound-7 and UF-677 x IMC-67), 5 moderately resistant, 7 moderately susceptible and 4 susceptible.
