Analysis of the combinatorial capacity in cocoa cultivars (Theobroma cacao L.) through diallel crossings
Main Article Content
Abstract
The work was developed in areas of the property “La Fidelina” belonging to the Estación de Investigaciones de Cacao, located in the Baracoa municipality, Guantánamo province. 64 genotypes were evaluated: eight progenitor’s auto fecund, 28 hybrid of it crosses direct and 28 of it cross reciprocal in a design totally at random. The behavior of the hybrid ones and progenitors were based on the analysis diallelic. The data were processed according to program MATGEM for diallelic crossing. The characters: mass of cocoa pulp for ear, number of seeds and mass of a seed presented inheritance of type additive and of dominance with significant maternal and reciprocal effects, as well as a value of the heritability coefficient in high narrow sense. The genotypes ‘UF-650’, ‘GS29’ and ‘EICB-107’ they are indicated for their use as feminine progenitors in crossing, the ‘Pound-12’, ‘UF-29’ and ‘Sca-6’ as masculine and the ‘IMC-67’ and ‘UF-613’ indistinctly, for both cases. The hybrid combinations ‘GS-29 x UF-29’, ‘UF-650 x UF-29’ and ‘GS-29 x Pound-12’ they have potential for the generation of superior cultivars.
