Abstract
La mayor zona cacaotera del país se localiza en el macizo montañoso Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa, fundamental- mente en la vertiente norte y en el municipio de Baracoa, donde más extensión de áreas cubiertas con cacao exis- ten en el país, disponiendo también este territorio de las mejores condiciones edafoclimáticas, cultura cacaotera e instalaciones para el mantenimiento y desarrollo del cultivo (Márquez y Aguirre, 2010).
