Introduction and validation of the coffee ecological benefit technology provided of the water recirculation under Cuba conditions
Main Article Content
Abstract
The evaluation of the coffee Compact Technology of Ecological Benefit of Colombian origin took place during the coffee campaigns between 1998 and 2001, in the Humid Benefit Centers of “Cuatro Caminos” and “La Lata”, located in Palma Soriano and Tercer Frente municipalities, Santiago de Cuba province, with the objective of studying the technician-economic and environmental feasibility of new technologies with regard to the traditional technology of coffee humid benefit. Samplings and evaluations in the different work sections for those that it intrudes the coffee were carried out during the humid benefit process and aspects technician-economic and environmental were been in invoice. Technology of ecological benefit of the coffee allowed: to diminish the consumption of fuel (32.77 %), to increase the pulping capacity in up to 955 kg of brown cherry, to reduce the water consumption (78.84 %),to diminish the drying time of the brown parchment in 12 hours/sun, to conserve the corporal weight of coffee gold (100 %), to reduce the time of duration of the humid benefit process until the drying at 32 hours, to diminish the mechanical damages to the brown parchment in 1%, to reduce the installation area in approximately 50 %, to reduce the Structures of (machines, mechanisms or systems) and to synchronize operational during the process as well as to simplify and to eliminate processes of high complexity. The new technology also reported reduction in the costs 42.07 % and 30.80 % in CUP and CUC respectively. From the environmental point of view they were appreciated, in the Benefit Centers where the new technologies were introduced, reductions in the volumes of polluted water (78.84 %) with relationship to the technology of traditional benefit, for effect of the decrease residual waters of the process as well as a better disposition of the residual liquids and solids for their later treatment or employment.
