Characterization and morphoagronomic analysis of 74 genotypes of Theobroma cacao Lin. to improve the cultivation clonal structure in Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
The characterization and analysis of the variability morfo agronomic of 74 genotypes of Theobroma cacao Lin., to improve the clonally structure of the cultivation in Cuba, was carried out by means of the describers proposed by Engels (1984) and Eskes et al. (2000), since 1992 to 2005 in the Investigations of Cocoa Station of Baracoa. The variables were analyzed by quantitative and multivariate’s statistical of main components. The qualitative characters transformed to quantitative variables and were processed with the procedure rank (SAS version 6.10). The dendogram presented 74 % of the total variance and it includes the 11 standardized variables keeping in mind the distance smaller Euclidian at 0.83. Five groups of the collection genotypes were identified: I constituted by the Catongo genotype; II and III for 14 genotypes, the IV integrated by the clone UF-668 and V formed by 44 genotypes. Assisting to the fat percentage, industrial yield and reaction to Phytophthora. palmivora (Butl.) Butl. in the groups III and V the genotypes of more interest were identified.
