Resistance to Phytophthora palmivora (Butl) Butl in 25 accessions of cocoa in Cuba Resistencia a Phytophthora palmivora (Butl.) In Cuba it is one of the fundamental problems that affect the cocoa production. The necessity to look for individuals genetically good and in turn that they are resistant to this disease it bore to the realization of this experiment, on a design totally randomized with 5 repetitions, in the Estación Experimental Agroforestal of Baracoa. The same one consisted on inoculating with a stump of the pathogen in semi-controlled conditions, 5 fruits of 25 agreements, for a period of 10 days, with the objective of determining the resistance degree in front of this disease. These individuals were previously studied by their genetic and morphological characteristics. The qualitative results, using the classification of severity showed that 16% was resistant, 8 % moderately resistant and 76 remaining % went susceptible to Phytophthora palmivora (Butl) Butl. Las especies de Phytophthora representan un género de patógenos devastadores de los vegetales, y por consiguiente son la causa de importantes pérdidas económicas. En Cuba es uno de los problemas fundamentales que afectan la producción del cacao. La necesidad de buscar individuos genéticamente buenos y a su vez que sean resistentes a esta enfermedad conllevó a la realización de este experimento, sobre un diseño completamente aleatorizado con cinco repeticiones, en la Estación Experimental Agro-Forestal de Baracoa. El mismo consistió en inocular con una cepa del patógeno, en condiciones semicontroladas, cinco frutos de 25 accesiones, por un período de 10 días, con el objetivo de determinar el grado de resistencia frente a esta enfermedad. Estos individuos fueron previamente estudiados por sus características genéticas y morfológicas. Los resultados cualitativos, utilizando la clasificación de severidad, mostraron que el 16 % fueron resistentes, el 8 % moderadamente resistente y el 76 % restante fue susceptible a Phytophthora palmivora (Butl.)
