Hernández, Alberto Soto, Francisco Martínez-Suárez, Felipe Garea, Eduardo Váquez, Zaimara soils cocoa zoning agroecology suelos cacao zonificación agroecología With the objective of achieving the characterization of the soils for the growth and development of the cocoa in the solid mountainous Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa, the present work was developed to carry out the studies of agroecological zoning of the crop in this region, on the base of the previous studies carried out in the region, with particularities in the main variable of soils that more they are related with the demands of the crop. The requirements of soils from the crop were described and he was carried out a comparison with the characteristic of the soils from the region, for him which the clusters of soils were selected that responded to the demands of the cocoa. Were take sample of different place with cocoa, to characterize the conditions of soils this places and that they can be compared with the requirements of the cocoa. The results allowed to recognize that the present soils in the solid mountainous Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa, doesn’t respond completely to the demands of the cocoa for the presence of some restrictive factor that you limit its agroproductivity, being the depth and the fertility the main ones restrictive in the places and the clusters Ferralitic, Fersialitic, Brown Sialitic and Fluvisol, are those that more responds to the requirements of soils to the growth and development of the cocoa. Con el objetivo de lograr la caracterización de los suelos para el crecimiento y desarrollo del cacao en el macizo montañoso Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa, se desarrolló el presente trabajo para realizar los estudios de zonificación agroecológica del cultivo en esta región, sobre la base de los estudios previos realizados en la región, con particularidades en las principales variables edáficas que más se relacionan con las exigencias del cultivo. Se describieron los requerimientos edafológicos del cultivo y se realizó una comparación con las características edáficas de la región, para lo cual se seleccionaron los agrupamientos de suelos que respondieron a las exigencias del cultivo. Se muestrearon diferentes agroecosistemas de cacao para caracterizar las condiciones edáficas de los mismos y que se puedan comparar con los requerimientos del cacao. Los resultados permitieron reconocer que los suelos presentes en el macizo montañoso Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa no responden completamente a las exigencias del cultivo del cacao por la presencia de algún factor limitante que limitan su agroproductividad, siendo la profundidad y la fertilidad las principales limitantes en los agroecosistemas muestreados, y los agrupamientos Ferralíticos, Fersialíticos, Pardos Sialíticos y Fluvisoles son los que más responden a los requerimientos edáficos para el crecimiento y desarrollo del cacao.
