Agro-ecological farm evaluation in a fragile ecosystem. Study of case Evaluación de fincas agroecológicas en un ecosistema frágil. Estudio de caso Rodríguez-Oquendo, Vicente Piedra-Perdomo, Julia C. Pérez-Díaz, Alberto Lores-Pérez, Abady agricultural system soils sustainable development fragile ecosystem sistema agrícola suelos desarrollo sostenible ecosistema frágil The work was developed in the CCS Enrique Campos Caballero located to the south of the Guantánamo province, in the period 1996-2009. The investigation had as objective the evaluation of agricultural properties of a fragile ecosystem, integrating the knowledge traditional peasant with the investigations scientist-technical more modernized in the handling of the soils. For the obtaining and prosecution of the information different tools and technical were used, among them: the visualization technique, group dynamics, interviews and oral communication, diagram of causes and effects and the womb for the takings of decisions. As a result of the investigation it was demonstrated that the rural classification of the soils for the town, although the same ones don’t have the theoretical and scientific foundations, it has their peculiar attributes of characterization. The producers have made useful technical and scientific considerations for the use of these soils with agricultural ends, independently of being very difficult for the agricultural exploitation. The used tools bore the farmers to participate in a deep debate for the identification of problems and in the taking of objective decisions for the sustainable development of the properties. El trabajo se desarrolló en la CCS Enrique Campos Caballero, ubicada al sur de la provincia de Guantánamo, en el período 1996-2009. La investigación tuvo como objetivo la evaluación de fincas agrícolas de un ecosistema frágil, integrando el conocimiento tradicional campesino con las investigaciones científico-técnicas más actualizadas en el manejo de los suelos. Para la obtención y procesamiento de la información se utilizaron diferentes herramientas y técnicas, entre ellas la técnica de visualización, dinámica de grupo, entrevistas y comunicación oral, diagrama de causas y efectos, y la matriz para la toma de decisiones. Como resultado de la investigación se demostró que la clasificación campesina de los suelos para la localidad, aunque no gozan de los fundamentos teóricos y científicos, tienen sus atributos peculiares de caracterización. Los productores han hecho consideraciones técnicas y científicas útiles para la utilización de estos suelos con fines agrícolas, independientemente de ser muy difíciles para la explotación agropecuaria. Las herramientas utilizadas conllevaron a los agricultores a participar en un debate profundo para la identificación de problemas y en la toma de decisiones objetivas para el desarrollo sostenible de las fincas.
