Rodríguez-Oquendo, Vicente Pérez-Díaz, Alberto Lores-Pérez, Abady traditional knowledge rural diagnosis agricultural production conocimiento tradicional diagnóstico rural producción agrícola The work was developed in the CCS Enrique Campos Caballero located to the south of Guantánamo, in the kilometer ten of the highway to Caimanera, in the period 1996-2009. The investigation had as objective to evaluate the paper of the rural traditions in the management of the agriculture ecosystem, integrating the knowledge traditional peasant with the investigations scientist-technical more modernized in the handling of the soils. The used methodology was based in the principles of the Investigation-action-participative, through a rural diagnosis and its evaluation. As a result of this diagnosis the existence was verified in those producing of a traditional knowledge of ecological nature, very related with the agricultural production of the property, very secured in the current generation of producers. The resulting strategy, allowed endowing to those producing of the group of knowledge modernized scientific-technicians that allowed settling down in its properties an efficient handling of the cultivated biodiversity, a better use and re-using of the nutrients. El trabajo se desarrolló en la CCS Enrique Campos Caballero, ubicada al sur de Guantánamo, en el kilómetro diez de la carretera a Caimanera, en el período 1996-2009. La investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar el papel de las tradiciones campesinas en el manejo del agroecosistema, integrando el conocimiento tradicional campesino con las investigaciones científico-técnicas más actualizadas en el manejo de los suelos. La metodología utilizada se fundamentó en los principios de la investigación-acción-participativa a través de un diagnóstico rural y su evaluación. Como resultado de este diagnóstico se constató la existencia en los productores de un conocimiento tradicional de naturaleza ecológica, muy relacionado con la producción agrícola de la finca, muy afianzado en la actual generación de productores. La estrategia resultante permitió dotar a los productores del arsenal de conocimientos científico-técnicos actualizados que permitió establecer en sus fincas un manejo eficiente de la biodiversidad cultivada, un mejor uso y reciclaje de los nutrientes.
